I have 4 exciting posts planned for Diwali and this is the first. The lovely Gauri from KitaabWorld emailed me to get together for a collaboration for Diwali that kids can enjoy and I jumped at the chance. The idea behind KitaabWorld is to make South Asian literature more accessible in the US and around the world. They also have an online bookstore with books in an array of South Asian languages, run a platform with curated booklists on South Asian topics and collaborate with educational institutions to teach others about South Asian culture.
I feel it’s important to learn about culture as it’s part of our identity. If I can help the learning process, I’m up for that! We decided a colouring page would be perfect for all ages as it’s fun and interactive. Parents can use their own stories to explain the story and meaning of this colourful time of year. You can download the colouring page at the bottom of this post. For more interactive things to do with kids as well as tasty Diwali recipes to try out, head on over to my Pinterest board HERE. There are salt dough diyas, mithai recipes, garland and rangoli diys and much more! Look out for the next post which will be about why we celebrate Diwali and links!
