Balancing A Full Time Job & A Business

Around 2 months ago i left my part-time position as a merchandise and went back to full-time work. I made this decision because i was using income from my business to pay myself and to cover house bills. I would rather have it being invested back into it. I’ve always been in work whilst running my business but part time always feels better since you have more time to invest in it. But you can make it work full-time employed too.

The transition was difficult as i found it hard to get into a routine and fitting. I was going to work, gym, doing my own work and fitting housework in between so there was little downtime. I have now found my feet which means gym at 5am (who does that – but you’d be surprised how buy it is!). It also means going to bed at 9:30pm so I can get up in the morning and little time to chill.

For anyone else struggling to find balance between their day job and own business, i’ve put some points together that might help…

SCHEDULE

Using your free time to plan and schedule things such as blogs or social media posts is such a relief. There are plenty of apps that can do this which will save you SO much time.

MANAGE YOUR TIME

Lists are your best friend. I find list making helps. I usually make one for the week and separate these to daily tasks. The main thing is to make sure you’re being productive rather than just doing ‘stuff’.

AVOID DISTRACTIONS

It’s so easy to come home and chill but if i don’t get myself into the right mindset. I can easily just sit and watch TV so i will only chill while i have a quick coffee when i’m home then start working on my business.

REST

As much as you have a million and one things to do, it’s super important to rest. All work and no play can drain you mentally and physically so make sure you’re eating and sleeping enough too. Self care is the most important thing when keeping the right mindset and you’re not going to do yourself any favours burning out.

Hope these help anyone else struggling juggling work and home life.
